River Report / Conditions – April 19, 2018

April 19, 2018, Author: Patrick Cook

We did a short float on the lower West yesterday afternoon and found a few fish willing to chase streamers.  White seemed to be the color that got the most attention.  We saw a few Blue Quills and BWO’s, but not enough to interest the fish.  We spoke with another angler who saw a couple of sporadic risers and a few more bugs higher on the West earlier in the day.  The release from Cannonsville is currently 393 cfs and will be ramping down throughout the day to 138 cfs at 10 p.m.  Currently 973 cfs is spilling over the top.

Hatching:

Little Black Stoneflies – #14-18
Blue Wing Olives – #18–24

Blue Quills – #16-18

Midges – #18-24
