River Report / Conditions – April 29, 2019

April 29, 2019, Author: Patrick Cook

Reports from the One Bug this weekend have been quite positive despite some pretty crazy weather conditions. Fish have been actively feeding on the surface despite low 40* water temps and mid 40-50* air temps. The surface activity has been primarily on the Lower West. Last Thursday before the cold front the Upper East fished very well on top, so another few more days of warmer temps should get them back up. We haven’t heard much about the Main due to the high flows, but we look forward to exploring that latter this week.

Hatching:

Hendricksons – #12-14

Blue Quills (Paraleps) #16-18

BWO #16-20

Chimarra Caddis – Not very important as an Adult, but swinging little black soft hackles in riffs can be productive. #16 -18

Little Black/Brown Stoneflies – #14-18

Midges #20-26
