Streamer fishing yesterday seemed to hit a lull on the Upper West. However, the dry fly activity picked up substantially over the past few days. Anglers reported lots of targets and eager fish. Cannonsville should be done spilling today, which means 1500cfs of cold water only into the West Branch. There’s a bit of a heatwave coming next week so this will be a big plus. As the water clears I follow a simple rule of thumb when it comes to streamer selection. The clearer the water, the lighter color fly you use. The water has cleared up nicely and the fish are comfortable with these high flows. The release out of Cannonsville remains at 1500cfs. Today’s forecast is calling for a high/low of 73*/56* with partly sunny skies and N winds at 8 mph.
